featured in Events calendar Updated

In Japan the tree blossoms herald the abundance of rice crops and the start of spring, and are typically celebrated with lots of festivities.

An exhibition will be running from 20th to 27th May in Chamonix's central library, showing Mount Fuji and Japanese alpinists, plus there will be workshops for origami, calligraphy and dressing in kimonos. These will run on the 20th, 23rd and 27th May from 15:00 also in the library.

A concert will be held on the 27th May at the MJC to mark the end of the celebrations Keisho Ohno playing a unique mix of traditional shamisen music (3 stringed Japanese guitar) with funk, soul, jazz and rock. Japanese drumming will be played by Ichitarô. The concert is in aid of a charity to support the AsaHigoaka Children’s Home and costs 8 euros to enter.
