3 Climbers and a Wingsuit Pilot Reported Dead this Weekend in Chamonix

More sad news this morning

A guide and two clients have been found dead on the North Face of the Aiguille du Midi yesterday afternoon and a wingsuit pilot sadly also lost his life on the Brevent yesterday morning.

The guide is believed to have been Patrice Villaret, president the Company des Guides of the Vanoise. He and his two Parisein clients had apparently fallen on the North Face of the Aiguille du Midi. It's thought that maybe a cornice or serac had given way as the group tried to reach a refuge, although this won't be clear until an  investigation has taken place.

The wingsuit pilot was a 33 year old Australian citizen who jumped from the Brevent early yesterday morning, a location known as one of the most technical and difficult BASE jumps. It's not known what caused the accident although some French sources are suggesting steering problems. The man's identity has not been released.

Or thoughts are with the family and friends of all those concerned.
