Chamonix Freeride World Tour event postponed due to snow

Last year not enough snow - this year too much!

Organisers of the Freeride World Tour event have announced they are postponing this weekend's main event in Chamonix due to the heavy snow forecast in Chamonix over the next 48 hrs.

The main contest was due to happen on Saturday morning on the Hotel face above the Brevent ski area, where the best freeriders were due to battle it out as part of this world tour, but as bad weather is closing in the event will be postponed.

Snow is forecast throughout the day today and continuing overnight, with snow showers becoming more scattered on Saturday. The local forecast is predicting 20-40 cm snowfall today and up to 50cm overnight - so when the sky clears conditions should be perfect for this freeride event.

Last year the event was moved to the Italian side of Mont Blanc as Courmayeur had better snow cover.
