First Chamonix electric bus

Chamonix bus get plugged in
by Robin Deering | Chamonix Editor | published: 15th May, 2012

After successful testing of an electric bus scheme last year, Chamonix has now invested in an electric bus to add to their fleet of Mulet town buses. The electric bus will be put into service later this year.

The electric bus was put to test in Chamonix after concerns were made if this type of bus would be suitable in a mountain ski resort. Needless to say the electric bus was a success in Chamonix and the council have invested the € 85 000 to lead the way to a greener Chamonix.
The Chamonix electric bus, constructed by Gepebus, will carry 22 people and has an autonomy of approximately 130 kilometres which will be enough for the daily Chamonix rounds. Most importantly the electric bus will save 20 tonnes of CO2 being ejected into the Chamonix airways. Reduced noise pollution will be another advantage of this electric bus so don't forget to stop and look before listening!
