The Italian instructor, Simone Gamba, set off early morning with a colleague and by midday had reached the summit of the Tour Ronde.
Setting off from 3792 metres down the steep descent the Italian made several turns before falling which, on such a vertical descent, proved deadly.
Simone Gamba was an aspiring guide and had passed his tests this winter - our thoughts go out to his friends & family.
