A new gallery opened this weekend in the Rue des Moulins district of Chamonix, exhibiting works by a local father and daughter team.

Tucked alongside the river on the Quai du Vieux Moulins (behind the Restaurant Cap Horn) Galerie A2 is the new exhibition space of photographer Axel Adler. As well as working in commercial photography for the past 15 years Axel has also pursued his passion for the mountains, the results of which can be seen on the walls of Galerie A2!

The gallery is housed in one of the traditional stone buildings in the "old town" district of Chamonix that was gutted by a fire a few years ago. The buildings have since been beautifully restored and Galerie A2 is the latest in a number of new businesses that have regenerated the area into a lively bustling street packed with bars, restaurants and other local businesses.

The gallery itself is split over two levels with a flower-filled balcony upstairs that looks out over the river; it's two rooms are tiny but charming, with fresh flowers and bowls of cookies making it far more inviting than any conventional gallery! It feels more like a boutique hotel, or the sitting room of a cosy chalet.

As well as Axel's photographs you can browse the chunky jewel-coloured scarves and unique jewellery, all designed and created by Axel's daughter - perfect for gifts or even as a treat for yourself.

Our Museums in Chamonix page has details of Galerie A2 and other exhibitions in the valley.
