Flying like a bird. It’s one of those things that almost everyone has wished for but unless you were born in a nest it is unlikely that you will ever beat gravity. Unless, you go paragliding! The views of the Chamonix Valley are even more beautiful from the air and with a number of reputable paragliding schools in Chamonix you could be soaring above the peaks tomorrow. Paragliding is open to all ages and you don't need to be physically fit to fly. A few short steps at take-off and landing and the rest is simply sitting in the harness and enjoying the ride. The weather is still hot and sunny and there is still loads going on in Cham. This weekend runners from all over the world will compete in the Marathon du Mont Blanc, a gruelling marathon through the woods and mountains of Chamonix. Alternatively, on Saturday, there will also be downhill mountain biking at Vallorcine. The kind people at Zero G have carted a load of bikes, helmets and pads over to the Swiss border for anyone who wants to give it a go free of charge! There will also be a BBQ and party hosted by Le Vert bar. If you are out with a young family then where better to spend the weekend than the adventure park at Les Planards? With rides and activities for all ages it is a great day in the sun.

The Chamonix golf course lies just outside the centre of town in the village of Les Praz. A full eighteen hole course with club house restaurant, driving range and pro shop on site it is surrounded by some of the highest peaks in Europe and some of the most staggering views of any golf course in the world. For a look around the course James met up with Australian golf pro and Chamonix resident, Sarah Douglas.

Take a look at some of the watersports available in the Chamonix Valley; hydrospeed, white water rafting and canyoning. The River Arve runs right through town and turns into a torrent during spring and early summer with all the meltwater that flows into it. Donning a wetsuit and taking the plunge is just one of the many summer activities that Chamonix has to offer.
