The Chamonix Valley consists of 7 separate lift areas that cater for a whole host of individuals; mountaineers, climbers, hikers, mountain bikers, paragliders... to those simply wishing to enjoy the beauty of the mountains.
With such variety on your doorstep, it makes sense that there are a number of different lift passes available so that you can tailor your purchase to the ability and preferences of your group.
Lift passes are available from the base of each lift station, the Montenvers railway cash desk or on-line via the Compagnie du Mont Blanc website. Visa and Mastercard credit cards are accepted. Don't forget that your lift pass also provides you with free access to the bus and train system that runs throughout the Chamonix Valley so you can leave your car at home!
Cham' Sports Pass
For Bikers and Paragliders in Chamonix
The Chamonix valley has plenty of high peaks, steep faces and wooded pathways making it ideal for paragliders, down hill and cross-country moutain bikers. As the needs for these sports are different to casual walkers and hikers so is the lift pass.
Passes for bikers and paragliders are available for either one day or five non-consecutive days. Each pass allows unlimited ascents for the day of use but you have to roll or fly down.
The pass can be used on:
Plan de l'Aiguille (Paragliders only and not from July 1st to August 31st)
Plan Praz gondola
Flégère cable car
Index Chairlift (paragliding only)
Lognan cable car
Charamillon gondola (MTB only).
You can buy a Cham Pass form any of the lift stations and Adult Day Pass costs €20 and a Youth Pass is €16. For five days the Passes cost €90 and €72.
The Cham' Pass does not cover mountain biking in Les Houches for this you will need a seperate pass which gives you access to the Bellevue cable car and the Prarion gondola. With some of the nicestsingle track in the valley as well as some more downhill trails, Les Houchesis an area worth exploring by bike. Passes are available by the day or they also have a 6 day option available and as always, a hands free card is required.
**NB: Mountain bikes are not permitted at all on the Montenvers train or the Aiguille du Midi cable car and winguiting is prohibited throughout the valley
Chamonix RapidCard
For the occasional Chamonix visitor
The Chamonix RapidCard is an annual loyalty card which gives you prefential day rates on all the Chamonix lifts (except for the Panoramic Mont Blanc) summer and winter, on as pay as you go system.
The card means you don't have to collect a new pass on each seperate visit to Chamonix and has a loyalty system in place so that every seventh day is free.
The card costs only €25 when purchased pre-season or €50 normally. Your card then gives you these preferential rates: winter day rate : €40 and summer day rate : 23€
After each use of your pass, the next morning you will receive an email with the details of your pass use.
Mont Blanc Multipass
For Walkers and Hikers
For walkers, hikers and runners the Mont Blanc Multi pass is the ideal option for summer lift access. The pass can be bought from any of the lift stations and is valid in the Brevent-Flegere area, the Grand Montets and Vallorcine areas as well as on the Aguille du Midi, the Montonvers Train, the Tramway du Mont Blanc and for pedestrian access to Les Houches.
The Pass also includes benefits on the Aiguille du Midi cable car including resevation-free access before 9am and special rates on the tourist train around Chamonix.
The Pass can be bought for 1-15 consecutive days, 2-15 non-consecutive days or a whole season
