If you are prepared to go further afield, such as Les Praz, Le Lavencher, and Argentiere, you are highly likely to be pleasently surprised by what you find.

Refined dining & ambiance ... Even if you know Chamonix very well, you might not yet have visited restaurant L’Impossible as it is tucked into a quiet corner of town beside the Jekyll bar, on the outskirts of Chamonix Sud. Housed a stone farmhouse dating back to 1754, it is oozing charm and tradition and is preceded by a reputation for excellent food and service. On entering, you’ll find the interior walls are adorned with a number of gilt framed paintings and photographs and along with two beautiful chandeliers; it gives the restaurant quite a grand feel. However, the original wooden walls and beams and ambient lighting make the overall atmosphere very cosy and it is somewhere you would be equally comfortable visiting with a group of friends or dressed up to the nines for a romantic dinner for two.
