60th Anniversary of CNEAS Brings Mountain Rescue Teams From Around the World To Chamonix

Chamonix's mountain rescue training is world renowned

There were a lot of mountaineering professionals on the streets of Chamonix this morning and they're in town to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the CNEAS (the national centre for mountaineering and skiing) based in Les Bossons.

At 11:00 this morning there will be an official ceremony and demonstrations in the the Place du Triangle de l'Amitié (the tourist office square) and you, the public, are encouraged to come along.

Not only do CNEAS train a multitude of French rescue teams and mountain professionals, but their reache stretches much further around the world - They have receives requests from around the world to train police, security forces and mountain rescue teams including those in Germany, China, Switzeralnd, Ecuador, Tibet, Pakistan, Iran, Russia and Ukraine.

The Swiss river police, for example, requested training on difficult to access riversides for rescues, the Germans for help securing the G7 Summit and the Chinese for training the People's Armed Police in mountainous terrain.
