Chamonix & Les Houches Lifts Opening This Weekend

Partial opening of some of the Valley lifts from Saturday 20th December

Due to the poor snow cover in the Valley in recent weeks, the ski areas have all had a delayed opening, however Compagnie du Mont Blanc have announced that some of the lifts will be in operation from this Saturday 20th December - subject to conditions at the weekend of course!

Here are the details of the lifts set to open this weekend and please note that not all of them are open for skiing, some are just for walkers and sightseeing only, and you won't be able to take your mountain bikes up.

Domaine des Grands Montets (Skiing)

New Plan Joran gondola, Argentière – Lognan & Lognan – Grands Montets cable-cars, Bochard gondola, Marmottons & Tabé chair-lifts for skiers. Skiing on the following trails: Bochard, Marmottons, Grands Montets variante (Departure at 3,300 m via Col des Rachasses to rejoin the Bochard trail).

Domaine de Balme (Skiing, walking, sightseeing)

Charamillon & Vallorcine gondolas, Autannes chair-lift for sightseers, walkers & skiers. Skiing on the Caisets trail (return trail from Charamillon to Le Tour).

Domaine de la Flégère (Beginner skiers, sightseeing & walking)

La Flégère cable-car & Les Evettes chair-lift for sightseers, walkers & beginner skiers. Skiing on the Evettes trail.

Domaine du Brévent

Planpraz gondola & Brévent cable-car for sightseers and walkers ONLY.

Domaine des Houches

Bellevue cable-car & Prarion gondola for sightseers and walkers ONLY.

Excursions sites

Aiguille du Midi, Montenvers Mer de Glace and Tramway du Mont-Blanc.

Since your options are a little limited, Compagnie du Mont Blanc are offering a "First Snowflakes Special offer" on 1 day and long stay lift passes:

  • 1 day: Adult: 58,50€ Youngster/Senior: 49,70€ Veteran: 29,30 € Family: 166,70 €
  • 2 & 3 days: Adult: 92,80€ Youngster/Senior: 78,90€ Veteran: 46,30€ Family: 264,50€

  • 5 days: Adult: 209,60€ Youngster/Senior: 178,20 € Veteran: 104,80€ Family: 649,80€
  • 6 days: Adult: 228,00€ Youngster/Senior: 193,80 € Veteran: 114,00€ Family: 649,80€
