Chamonix No1 For Investment in Ski Area
Chamonix tops the table in this years top 10 resorts for ski area investment
It's been a while since Chamonix spent this much money on it's ski area, and magazine Montagne Leaders have taken note, claiming Chamonix to be no.1 for investment in ski areas around the Alps this year.
Chamonix are spending €29.97 million, knocking Val Thorens from the top spot and dropping to third place this year with a spend of €18.93 million. Courchevel & La Tania come in second with €20.22 million, Châtel moves up to 4th place spending €17.15 million, next is Les Arcs with €16.56 million, La Clusaz with €15,14 million , La Pierre Saint-Martin in the Pyrenees €14,48 million, Avoriaz €13.83 million, La Plagne €12,25 million and Alpe d'Huez €10.28 million.
Most of the spending in these resorts will be going on new or replacement lifts as oppose to artificial snow systems on the whole.
Chamonix's long term plans incorporate much more than the €29.97 million quoted for this year, with a total of €477 being spent between now and 2019 and some would say it can't happen fast enough..
