Work on building the new Chamonix fire station is well under way. Back in June the foundation stone was laid, and look at how much progress they've made since then!

The old building at the Place du Mont Blanc has been in operation since 1958, and is due to be replaced with a brand new facility close to the hospital on Route des Pèlerins.

The new building will be split into three sections - one for equipment and vehicles, another for technical gear and the last is the living accommodation for the fire-fighters, which will include a gym, lockers, offices and sleeping areas.

The project is costing 10 million euros and work is due to be completed in the first quarter of 2016.
