The decision has been made and we're going to have to wait another week to ski in Chamonix.

Despite a lot of effort trying to prepare the pistes, there isn't enough snow cover to make the slopes safe, so another week of waiting is on the cards.

For the nearest ski are open in the Haute Savoie you can head to Avoriaz which opens today, or head over to Verbier in Switzerland. Cervinia is a bit further to travel to in Italy, but by all accounts they've had quite a good cover of snow already.

So hang up your ski jacket for now and we'll see you on the slopes on the 20th when we'll be getting a ride on the new Plan Joran gonala for the first time too!
