Lift Watch Part 12

New Lognan cabins for the cable car & all the bubbles are in the building

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

The new Plan Joran gondola is looking huge, shiny, stocked with bubbles and almost ready to go! In fact it's so big it literally dwarfs the Lognan cable car station next door..

We can only report on the bottom of the new gondola at Grands Montets today since the lifts are closed, but there have been lots of developments since we were last up here taking a look.

The new cabins for the cable car at the main Lognan lift station are in operation, and are looking pretty swish compared to the old one that's been left near the bus stop in the car park. Super large floor to ceiling windows and a sleek new design in grey look pretty good.

The base station building at the bottom of the new Plan Joran gondola is also taking shape, a very BIG shape.. it's huge compared to the rusty old chair lift that it's thankfully replaced. The new 10 seater bubbles are all packed away inside the building, although the building itself is still lacking a few walls..

There's plenty of work still to be done, with another digger arriving whilst I was there, but as our #LiftWatch update number 9 says, it's all on schedule to be open for this winter. Testing of the new bubbles on the cables may even begin this week.
