Yesterday afternoon 2 Spanish mountaineers fell while climbing the Triangle du Tacul in the Mont Blanc massif.

One person died on the scene and the other, in a serious condition, was rescued by the PGHM and taken to Annecy hospital.

The place they were climbing at around 4,248 m, is at the start of the 3 Monts route up to Mont Blanc, not far from the scene of the avalanche that took so many lives in 2012.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of both people.

*Update 16th April*

The second climber remains in a stable condition in hospital, in a serious condition and in a coma. Both men are believed to have fallen around 350 metres.
