Parapente Meets Gondola on Brevent

Yesterday morning a paraglide wing got tangled in the cables of the Plan Praz gondola

Around 11.30am on Thursday the Plan Praz gondola came to a stand still and was stopped for around an hour as rescuers tried to reach the stranded paraglider.

According to the newspaper Le Dauphine, the incident occurred at around 2000 metres, not far from the 'parapente' take off site. Forced to open a reserve canopy after the pilot lost control, it headed straight for one of the gondola cabins.

Rescuers made their way down the cable to rescue the pilot but in the mean time skiers and snowboarders were stuck inside the gondola cabins on what was possibly the hottest day of the season so far! Not the trip they were expecting... But then I am sure the parapente pilot was not expecting their trip either!
