Ski instructors Bastien Fleury and Olivier Meynet must have been on fire earlier this week as they smashed the record for ski touring from Chamonix to Zermatt.

They set off from Chamonix at 00:20 on Monday night and completed the 108 km route with 7,850 metres of elevation in just 16 hours and 35 minutes.

They took advantage of the good weather, and stayed as high as possible between Chamonix and Bourg St Pierre. After that they joined the classic Haute Route into Zermatt.

The previous record of 18 hours 35 mins was set in 2013 by Lionel Claudpierre, so with 2 whole hours being taken off by Fleury & Meynet, we're pretty sure this record will stand for a good while yet.. unless Kilian Jornet steps up for the challenge?!
