Did you know that this summer will be the second summer La Chavanne will be open? Neither did we.. so we thought we'd give you a run down of all the summer mountain restaurants you might like to try while you're in Chamonix.

From mid June to mid September the following restaurants will be open from 11:00 to 16:00

La Chavanne, not far from the top of the Flegere gondola, and the Chalet de Flegere. With a sunny terrace to enjoy the views of Mont Blanc from.

Restaurant Le 3842 (table service) & the Summit cafe (self service) at the Aiguille du Midi. The highest restaurant & cafe in the whole of Europe, with stunning views of Mont Blanc.

Brev'Bar & the Bergerie de Plan Praz (table service) at the top of the Brevent lift. Watch out for the Bergerie's special Bird of Prey evenings on selected Thursdays through summer, for a really unique experience.

The Spot & the Top buvette at Grands Montets (Argentiere). Take in the views of the Argentiere galcier from the very top and enjoy the hiking and biking trails.

The Chalet de Charamillon at Le Tour - at the top of the gondola, with a great sun terrace view spectacular views of the valley.

Restaurants with differing opening times:

Chalet de la Floria is a great place to stop off on a hike or a mountain bike ride. You'll know it's open if the flag is flying on the terrace, which you can see from the valley floor. Access is either from near to the bottom of the Savoy in the centre of town or from Les Praz, on the petit balcon sud.

The Grand Hotel du Montenvers restaurant is open as long as the Mer de Glace train that takes you to it is running, or you can reach it on foot from the mid station of the Aiguille du Midi lift.

The Buvette des Mottets is a pretty litte snack shack tucked away underneath the Aiguille du Midi lift station, accessed via the walking trails behind the grepon and thte hospital.

Near here is the Cascade du Dard, which as the names suggests is located near a beautiful waterfall.

Chalet le Cerro has great views over the Bossons glacier, and if you look closely enough at the glacier you might find some hidden treasure..

Look for the little row of shed-like chalets under the Autanne chair lift at Le Tour & you'll find the gite-come-snack-stop that is Les Ecuries de Charamillon. A good place to break up the hike up and over to Vallorcine or Trient.

In Vallorcine is the very popular Cafe Comptoir, located not far from the Vallorcine gondola. So it's not technically on the mountain, but it's definitely worth popping into if you're hiking around the Aiguille rouge or Le Tour end of the valley.

The Vieilles Luges in Les Houches is a gorgeous little chocolate box restaurant with stunning views from the gardens and terrace.

If you head to the top of Les Houches, nestled next to the Tramway du Mont Blanc train tracks is Le Courant d'Air which is pretty basic, but offers a few snacks and drinks to refuel passing hikers and mountain bikers.

Over the other side of the hill, on the way down to St Gervais is one of our favourites, La Taniere. Book ahead for their amazing Argentinian beef BBQ (minimum numbers apply).

And let's not forget the many mountain huts and refuges dotted around the valley. Not all of them do food, so please enquire in advance when you book.
