KDUK, the UK based charity for Kennedy's Disease sufferers and their families are looking for you support, and one lucky winner will get a free week in an apartment in Port d'Andratx, Mallorca.

The Competition

Everyone who donates £10 and over until the 22 June will be automatically entered into the prize draw. There is no limit on the number of times you can enter. One winner will be selected at random on 23 June. The winner will be informed immediately and will be able to select their week in the apartment from 1st September to 1st November (subject to availability).

The Apartment

The apartment is located in a stunning cove 3km from Port Andratx and 30 minutes from Palma airport and city centre, is part of Villa Rosa and is called 'Moonlight'.

The two bedroom, two bathroom apartment is on the ground floor of the Villa with an elevated terrace that has views to the bay and Beach Club. The terrace is fully furnished with a table, chairs, parasol and 2 sunbeds. There is also a small BBQ. The apartment comfortably sleeps 6 people. The first bedroom has a double bed, the second has two single beds and there is also a king size sofa bed. The kitchenette is very practical and is stocked with all the utensils, pots and saucepans, dishes, glasses and cutlery that you will need. There is also a kettle, coffee machine and a toaster. Linen and towels are provided (except beach towels!)

As soon as you step out of the apartment, you’ll be mesmerised by the beautiful, crystal clear seawater and you will have access to the Gran Folies Beach Club that has a swimming pool and the beach itself.

You are only 5 minutes away to shops and amenities and the nearest places are Port Andratx, Peguera, Cala Fornells and Sant Elm. The nearest sandy beaches will be Peguera, Cala Fornells and Sant Elm. Moonlight is a very unique apartment and to me it is a very special place. I know that you will love your week there.

This is why Angela, the apartment owner, did it…

‘I had never heard of Kennedy’s Disease (KD) until my friend Kate invited me to like her new Facebook charity page. After speaking with Kate, I found out more about the disease and knew it was something very close to her heart.

She explained that her husband Frank has KD along with his two older brothers. His eldest brother has been wheel chair bound for 4 years and now requires 24hr care. His middle brother is currently fighting off the need for a wheel chair however, they are not sure for how long. She told me that Frank, being the youngest brother, is unsure of what the future might hold for him.

She also told me that there was no charity set up in the UK for KD, so with the help of lovely friends who joined in to raise funds, they manage to set up KD-UK.

I was totally inspired by her story and her determination to set up this charity in the UK to raise awareness of the disease and to generate donations to fight it. I just wanted to help any way I could. After a lot of thought, I decided that the best way I could help them raise more money was to offer my apartment for free for a week.

I am a great believer that you can always make a difference no matter how small and I truly hope this will help KD-UK to raise more funds so that together we can crack this illness and give the support, care and assistance that people affected with KD need.’ – Angela
