Body found in the river Arve
Local man dies in icy waters
Walkers strolling the length of the Arve near Les Gaillands spotted the body of a lifeless man floating in the river.
The 73 year old local man fell into fatal waters
Local police recovered the body after the alert was given and the man was later identified by friends. Neighbours said he was last seen at 10.30 am - he was found at midday.
During this period of snowmelt the river can have a particularly strong current and very cold temperatures.
