Chamonix Cold Snap
Temperature dips to minus 14°C in town

Winter is truly here with a fresh cold snap in Chamonix. And, after all the snow that fell over the new year, the cold temperatures of late are keeping the snow in great condition.

    Chamonix temperature inversion keeps it sunny up top

Last night the thermometer reading dropped to minus 14°C in Chamonix

With perfect clear skies the temperatures have been dropping to extremes at night down in the valley. However, a temperature inversion has meant warm sunny conditions up on the pistes.

The forecast is announcing a new disturbance crossing over which should blast away the inversion and, more importantly, bring some fresh snow this weekend.

One man had a lucky escape after spending the night out under the stars after getting lost in the Gorges de la Diosaz in Sevoz. The man found himself lost after visiting the Gorges and called for help when night fell but the rescue services were unable to localise the man and advised him to take cover for the night before rescuing him at dawn.
