Helicopter rescue from Les Grandes Jorasses

The PGHM (mountain rescue police) sprang into action on Saturday afternoon when 3 German climbers became stranded on the North Face of Les Grandes Jorasses.

The climbers were 100m from the Walker summit when one of them was hit by falling rocks and was knocked unconscious.

A rescue helicopter was sent up and the victim was flown to Sallanches hospital to be treated for head injuries. His 2 friends were returned safely to Chamonix.
