Crowds arrived yesterday to see Didier Cuche take the podium in the downhill training

A snowy start to the races today with a low lying cloud which should vanish by the middle of the day making way to a brisk & sunny weekend.
It's reconnaissance time this morning for the downhill skiers and then the race starts at midday, the awards ceremony happens at 6pm in Chamonix.
The apres-race activities kicked off last night with DJ Meuh on the Place du Mont Blanc and it is rumoured local musician André Manoukian will be making a guest appearance this weekend.

If you are lucky enough to be in Chamonix this weekend then pop down to Les Houches where there are a number of spectator areas; if you are on skis then just take either the Prarion or the Bellevue cable car to get up top or if you are on foot then there is a big screen at the arrival line.
