The skier fell twenty metres down into a crevasse

Skiing down the Vallee Blanche the skier got into trouble near the Pointes Lachenal when he fell into a crevasse. Falling some twenty metres before coming to a stop, the skier was miraculously unhurt. The PGHM rescue services were quickly on the scene and winched the skier to safety.

Skiing on the Vallee Blanche is not without risks - the route is a high mountain glacier route and a crevasse rescue kit should be part of the packing list. For those not experienced or not equipped the Vallee Blanche should only be attempted with a guide.
