Best conditions in a decade : 10th January 2012

Grand Montets is currently experiencing some of the best conditions of the last decade! There is powder off piste on a solid base with almost no rocks left. On top of this, the pistes are smooth.

Over at Brevent and Flegere the off piste is getting a little skied out but otherwise both are in great condition and the pistes are also holding up really well.

Conditions at Le Tour and Aiguille du Midi are variable. The wind we had has stripped the snow off some parts of the Vallee Blanche returning it to glacial ice - somewhere between glass and concrete -  then, just as you turn a corner, it’s bottomless powder again. For the most part it’s a beautiful ski – I did three laps yesterday!

The arête at Aiguille de Midi is now equipped with ropes but is very icy – if you are not an Alpinist take a high mountain guide as it’s a bit on the scary side!
