Chamonix Snow Report: 18th April 2014

The snow's making a late come back!

Just when we've been pretty much signing off this winter as done & dusted, the weather forecast looks like it has a little surprise for us..

Although it might be spotting with rain in town right now, the forecast is promising a few cm of snow tonight at around 2500m, with more overnight Saturday, Sunday and then maybe up to 30cm through until Wednesday.

Higher up at the top of Grands Montets (3275m), and the Aiguille du Midi (3842m) / Valley Blanche there looks like there's going to be a fair old dump between Monday & Wednesday, maybe 50-60cm? The 12 day forecast is showing snow next Friday, Tuesday & Wednesday aswell.. what the chuff?!?

Piste skiing options are limited to just Les Houches for this weekend (lifts close on the 21st) and Grands Montets at the moment, but the Midi lift is still running for access to the Valley Blanche and other off piste routes, and there's always the option of ski touring higher up. Have a look at our mountain huts section to see options of where to stay on a tour.

If you fancy heading over to Italy, Courmayeur resort is open until the 21st April. From now until 4th May, Grands Montets will remain open - first lifts at 08:30. Work is going to start after this to build the new Plan Joran chair lift - read more about Chamonix ski lift investment plans here.

In the meantime, if you want to check out how much use you've had out of your season pass this winter then you can use this handy little website. Once you've logged in and confirmed your account by email, you can see how many days you've skied this season, how many lifts you've used and how many km you've travelled.

We're off to scoff some Easter eggs.. bon weekend everyone :-)
