What's New in Chamonix?

Watch out for Mont Blanc tunnel closures if you"re travelling from Chamonix through to Italy

In homage to that favourite childhood song...if you go through the tunnel on Monday the 30th November or 14th December you can be sure of a big surprise. It may be shut on your way back!

Yes, it's time for the trimestrial security exercise, so the Mont Blanc tunnel will be shut to all traffic on :

Monday the 30th November from 22:00 through to 06:00 the following morning

Monday the 14th December from 22:00 to 01:00

These are the only scheduled interruptions to circulation in the Mont Blanc tunnel this side of Christmas, but you should check the latest traffic information on www.tunnelmb.com before you travel.

Don't forget there are also two new roadside electronic panels giving live information on tunnel circulation too. One is located just before the Mont Blanc tunnel roundabout where the D1506 meets the N205 as you leave Chamonix and the other is on the new dual carriageway just past Les Houches as you head up the valley from Sallanches. At the time of writing the panels aren't yet working, but should be soon.
