Gite d'Alpage de Charamillon Refuge (1850m), Massif du Mont-Blanc

Charming mountain lodge that was formerly a cow shed

featured in Mountain huts Updated

This is one of the simplest refuges to access, being just a few minutes walk from the Charamillon gondola at Le Tour. This refuge is for those that would like a secluded get away spot where they can explore the mountains but can still get back to civilization in a heartbeat.

The refuge is open for the summer between mid-June and mid-September; it sleeps up to 19 people in 4 four rooms. Accommodation is on a half-board, B&B or bed-only basis; blankets are provided but for hygiene reasons you are required to bring your own sheet or sleeping bag liner.

The refuge has an excellent restaurant that serves traditional alpine dishes such as croute, fondue, tartiflette, omelettes and salads. The restaurant is open in winter as well as summer, and is very popular for a skiers lunch break.

Please enquire directly for this season's prices and opening/closing dates.

Worth knowing

The Le Tour area has many hiking trails and is also popular with mountain bikers; the refuge is on a plateau surrounded by pastures where local farmers graze their cows in summer.
