Up to a metre of snow up top: 15th December 2011

We woke up to big snow flakes in Chamonix this morning. And our snow reporter, who was on her way up the Grands Montets, has just called to say it is closed until midday due to current conditions! They are saying up to 1m of snow has fallen up top.

The good news is it is still snowing, with more expected overnight/ tomorrow. Great news for that all important base layer. Good timing too; just before the opening of the other pistes in the Chamonix area.
