The snow has returned in force this morning

Chamonix Dump Alert: 13th January 2017

It was raining in Chamonix from around 6pm last, which was falling as snow up at around 2000 metres. 

The snow has been dumping down across the valley, but this morning there is still a lot of avalanche blasting going on. Grands Montets is closed for the day and a lot of lifts are waiting for information on opening

Snow levels across the valley this morning are as follows:

  • Aiguille du Midi - 70cm
  • Brevent - 15cm
  • Flegere - 32cm / Index - 40cm
  • Grands Montets - 14cm Lognan (Closed for the day)
  • Le Tour Mid Station - 40cm
  • Les Houches - 25cm

Avalanche risk has gone up to 4/5 High. Meaning that avalanches are likely to occur even if a light load is applied. In some areas spontaneous avalanches are likely to occur too. Stay safe out there!
