Chamonix Dump Alert: 2nd March 2019

After a couple of weeks of wall-to-wall sunshine and almost springlike conditions on the slopes of the Chamonix Valley, winter has made a welcome return. Snow started falling on Friday, in the early afternoon and continued all the way into the early night.

Around 15-20cm have fallen at mid-mountain level with a whopping 25-35cm on the summits and up to 5cm down in the valley. This fresh snow has turned the towns into winter wonderlands again. The skies are a little bit hazy this morning but there's clear visibility everywhere so the perfect time to be hitting the pistes, especially since the February half-term rush has already quieted down.

The forecast is for another 15 to 20cm of snow on Monday and then a big dump on Wednesday and Thursday.
