Celebrating 60 years of the PGHM, Chamonix

The Chamonix mountain rescue team celebrate their anniversary

On 15th, 16th and 17th June 2018 the Chamonix mountain rescue team (PGHM) celebrate 60 years of service in the Mont-Blanc massif with a schedule of events in the town centre.

Friday, June 15th

  • 19h30 - Conference in the Majestic Congress: "PGHM, 60 Years of Mountain Rescue"

Saturday June 16th

  • 9:00 am - Rescue Village at the Place du Triangle de l'Amitié (beside Tourist Office). Numerous stands: refreshments, slackline, climbing challenge (adult and children), first aid, historical exhibition with old helicopters, zip line.
  • 10:30 - Demonstration of ground and helicopter rescue
  • 13:30 - Plan-Praz plateau via cable car (free access)
  • 14:00 - Ground presentation of the current helicopters (EC145)
  • 15:30 - Ground and helicopter rescue demonstrations in real terrain
  • 17:00 - Descent of Plan-Praz
  • 18:00 - Raffle and prize giving
  • 19:30 - Closure of Rescue Village.

Sunday, June 17th

  • 9:00 - Rescue Village reopens.
  • 12:00 - Military ceremony on the Place du Triangle de l'Amitié
  • 13:00 - End of event
