Aiguille du Midi cable crashes on to road

The main cable of the Aiguille du Midi lift has fallen on to the main road entering Chamonix during recent maintenance work. The cable-car was closed for scheduled shortening of the cable following a year in operation. The closure was only due to last a week - it will now be longer! The Brevent lift is open instead.
