Appeal for information about missing ski tourer

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

An appeal for further information has been launched on Pistehors.com for a young male ski tourer missing since this weekend (22/01/06). After a problem with his bindings he reportedly left his fellow companions to head back in the direction of the Argentiere refuge with the intention of returning back to Chamonix Monday morning. Rescue services found no evidence that he made it back to the refuge, and high winds combined with fresh snow have since covered any holes over crevasses or tracks left by the ski tourer which may have been evident at the weekend.

Guillaume Laurent is 23 years old, 1.75m tall with athletic build. He was last seen around 7pm close to the Argentiere refuge wearing black trousers, a blue-marine jacket and carrying a black and yellow Grivel sack. If you have any further information please contact the Chamonix Peleton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne on +33 (0)4 50 53 16 89.
