Casa Valerio - Pizza champions in the making!

featured in News & reviews Author George Long, Updated

How does the saying go? Like father like son? Well that certainly seems to be the case for Valerio Commazzetto and his two sons David and Marco.

Valerio, owner of the legendary Casa Valerio Italian restaurant in Chamonix, renowned for its pizzas, is a very proud man this week. In the recent "Championnants de France de Pizza” held in Lannemezan in the Haute Pyrenees region of France, both of his sons performed exceptionally well.

David Commazzetto was the youngest of the 130 adults taking part, in the event which attracts professionals from all over France. He finished 10th overall after impressing the judges with his cepes mushroom and parmesan pizza, finished off with buffalo mozzarella, garlic and parsley.

His younger brother, Marco, was competing in the 12 – 18 year old category and also performed very well, producing a classic Savoyarde pizza with lardons, onions and reblochon cheese.

After such promising results from his own sons, Valerio has even hinted that he may open up a Pizzeria school in Chamonix to spread that Commazzetto culinary magic. Likely to take place during the interseason, we'll keep you posted as soon as we hear any firm details.

At least one thing is certain, with the up and coming talents of David and Marco in the wings, we'll all be enjoying those delicious Casa Valerio pizzas for many years to come!
