On 17th April the Compagnie des Alpes announced that it had reached an agreement with rival company Sofival. The merger between the two lift companies will strengthen the CDA's position as Eurpoean leader in its field; the company already manages the lift sytems in Tignes, La Plagne, Les Menuires, Les Arcs, part of Meribel, Flaine, Chamonix and Serre Chevelier.

The CDA will take over 60 % of the income from STVI (Val d'Isère) and a minority 20% share of the revenue from Serma (Morzine-Avoriaz), DSV (Valmorel) and DSR (La Rosière). The acquisition brings the total number of ski areas managed by the CDA to 18.

The total cost of the deal, which will come into effect from 1st October, has not been divulged, but the CDA are expected to enjoy a significant increase (from 470 – 500 million euros) in annual turnover.
