Chamonet.com Live! Chamonix Weather working again

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

At long last our Live! Chamonix weather station has started working again. After a drawn out saga which had us baffled as to the problem, the weather station has been fixed. We have been up and down the mountain with various electronic components, hammers, drills, and tool-chests worth of other bits of kit.

We have repositioned wireless transeivers, replaced weather veins (which had got blown off in a gale one night!), and tried all sorts of combinations of repairs, voltages, and fuses. I hope you are getting the picture!

Anyway, it turned out there were several problems. First there is some sort of new radio interference up there (which stopped our own signal before we but a booster in). And then there was a blown resistor on the circuit board of the weather bucket (pictured) which stopped the wind direction from being measured. These issues appear to have been resolved - including the new resistor having been soldered into place.

With any luck it will continue to run for the indefinite future, or will be 'repaired' with a large hammer next time! Apologies to all who have been without, the last few months, what we hope will prove to be a useful resource.
