Drug haul at the Mont Blanc Tunnel
Customs officials are the Mont Blanc Tunnel have seized 2kg of cocaine last Thursday. Two Morrocan born Dutch were en route from Holland to Milan with the drugs stashed in the rear right-wing of their vehicle.
To throw off sniffer-dogs (unsuccessfully!) the packets were wrapped in several layers of plastic, onion, and coffee. The value of the haul is around €80k.
The pair, one male and one female, have been sentenced to three years in prison and fined €191,200.
Since the start of the year customs officials have seized 12.5kg of drugs at the border.
