CORRECTION The information below is incorrect. The Grands Montets will be closing on the Tuesday 8th of May 2007 for skiers/boarders. It will remain open for mountaineers from the 9th-13th May with cable-cars a specific intervals.

It is infact the Chamonix Freeride Days which will be taking place on the 29th April 2007. This normally marks the last skiing weekend, hence the confusion!

The Grands Montets should re-open for summer on the 22nd June.

The remainder of the other ski areas look to be shutting shop for this winter on the 22nd April 2007, however Flegere will only be partially closed from then (definitively for the season on the 29th), the Aiguille du Midi & the Montenvers stay open; and all of this is subject to change depending on the conditions!!!!

Despite the superb skiing conditions at the Grands Montets, the Compagnie du Mont Blanc has decided to close the ski area earlier than scheduled. The mountain was originally due to be open until 6th May but the official closing date has now been brought forward a week to Sunday 29th April.

If the current wintery conditions are anything to go by, the snow should hold up just fine for the closing weekend. The final day on the hill is about more than just skiing though. The crowds traditionally gather at Lognon where they are treated to thrills from the experts grinding on the massive rail, and spills from the amateurs attempting to make it across the water slide.

Music, food, booze and fancy dress (the theme this year is Rock ‘n' Roll) make for a carnival atmosphere, so come and make the most of the final day of the season.
