Hold up in pool renovations means extended closure

The Chamonix swimming pool is currently the subject of a vast modernisation programme that will see the 50m outdoor pool being completely re-done. In addition, the finished complex will have a new activity pool, jacuzzi area and paddling pool for the little ones. The extensive renovations are predicted to cost nearly €3 million.

The work was originally scheduled to take 6 months and meant that the pool would be closed for summer 2006. However, due to the time taken doing the ground surveys, there is now a delay getting quotes in which means that the re-build will not start before October at the earliest. That said, in order for the demolition work to commence, the entire complex must still close for the summer and is unlikely to open before Spring 2007 resulting in considerable lost revenue.
