Huge snowfalls in Chamonix and across the Alps
What started last week as a good few centimetres of snow fall has continued now for several days, deeply burying most of the town, including cars and small children in several feet of snow.
The weather remains poor for the next day or so at least, with many lifts closed due to high winds or avalanche blasting. These recent dumps have brought much needed cover for the pistes and may well allow off-piste to resume.
It seems this year the winter is a month late, which could give some interesting results in the spring....lets hope the spring snow comes before the lifts close?
