La Cabane Restaurant burns down
The restarant of Chamonix's golf-club - La Cabane - burned to the ground during the night of Tueday-Wednesday. Known as one of the better restaurants of the area, the restuatant was built in the style of a Finnish log-cabin and was entirely contructed of wood.
The fire-fighters arrived promptly on the scene having been alerted by the fire-detection system. By daybreak their efforts prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby golf-club buildings and the Hotel Labrador, however they were unable to save most of the restaurant building.
Criminal investigations are underway, all that has been determined so far is that the flames first appeared under the roof on the Northern side of the building.
