Categorised in:

Gaëlle Cavalié has been found alive 100 metres below the summit of the Aiguille Verte after spending four days and four nights in in a snow hole.

The alert was given on Thursday for the missing 21 year old mountaineer from Saint Gervais, following no news since her solo attempt of the Aiguille Verte on Tuesday morning.
At 6:30 on Saturday morning a PGHM helicopter spotted the snow-hole, just 100 metres from the summit, and rescued Gaëlle.

Gaëlle was without bivouac equipment and was physically exhausted but managed to dig herself a snow-hole which protected her from the elements for the four days & nights, she is said to be recovering from mild hypothermia but otherwise safe and well.
