Moscow-Mont Blanc Photocross Competition

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

From the 2nd to the 9th January 2007, Chamonix will be hosting the third European Photocross competition for winter sports and mountain enthusiasts everywhere. Run in conjunction with the Chamonix Tourist Office, the town will be welcoming a number of teams from Russia and across Europe who will be here to take photos on given themes on a fixed date in and around the Chamonix Valley. The winners of the competition will be those that produce the best photos in the shortest time.

Scheduled to tie in with Russian New Year on January 6th, the week will endeavour to establish a real exchange between the two cultures and embrace all things Russian. With an interesting and varied programme of events planned, including; exhibitions, films, concerts, a sound and light show and the photo competition itself; the organisers of the Moscow Mont-Blanc Festival are convinced that the week will generate a festive and creative atmosphere, culminating in the celebration of the official Russian New Year on the 6th.

There are some impressive prizes up for grabs, with first place walking away with a week's holiday for 2 people (in Chamonix of course!) offered by the Tourist Office. Subsequent prizes are no less exciting and include 6 unique pairs of DYNASTAR Skis (designed to include the prestigious Chamonix resort logo) and 4 digital cameras, provided by PENTAX, the sponsor of the photocross.

The competition is certain to reveal an interesting take on how visitors view the area, especially to those who already know the valley well. It is open to all and interested parties can register via the Photocross website (the link is on their home page) and the €10 entry payment can be made on the day.
