Next season lift pass prices announced

featured in News & reviews Author Helen McGrory, Chamonix Reporter Updated

The Compagnie du Mont Blanc has recently announced its winter lift pass prices for the coming season and, apart from the inevitable price increases, they also have some interesting discounts on all long duration passes if bought before November 25th 2007.

With so many lift pass options available these days, check out our FAQ on the subject to help you decide which one is be best for you. However, price increases in general on 6 day tickets are minimal, with a 6 day Chamonix Le Pass costing €185 this year (compared to €182 last winter) and the Mont Blanc Unlimited area pass is €225 (a €5 increase on 06/07 price). It's good to see that the cost of the season and annual Chamonix Le Pass has not changed at all from last year (€650 season or €850 for the year) but if you're planning on getting the Unlimited season or annual ticket then you will have to pay a whopping 10% rise on last years prices; €1045 for the season or €1320 for the year!

For this reason, if you're planning on making multiple trips or intend to be out here for the long duration then you would probably be as well to take advantage of one of the early bird offers. Discounted rates are as follows (Child prices apply to 4-15 year olds – proof of birth required):

Chamonix Le Pass: -30%
Season:
Adult: €650 reduced to €455
Child: €520 reduced to €364
Annual:
Adult: €850 reduced to €595
Child: €600 reduced to €476

Mont Blanc Unlimited: -35%
Season:
Adult: €1045 reduced to €679
Child: €836 reduced to €543
Annual:
Adult: €1320 reduced to €858
Child: €1060 reduced to €689

The on-line purchase facility is not yet up and running but you can check out the full range of discounts here. Don't forget the packs of 5, 10 or 15 day tickets that are valid until 31/12/08 and can be used summer or winter for shorter visits.

You may also remember that during the run up to last winter we reported on further discounts that were available for full-time or secondary residents in possession of a “Gens de Pays” or “Chamonix Vallée Resident” card. Last year, the Compagnie du Mont Blanc offered 50% discount to holders of the above cards on season and annual passes, but at the time of writing they were unable to confirm this year's offer. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear more news on residents' rates.
