Novotel re-construction well underway
On February 20th 2005, the Novotel Hotel just outside of Chamonix was ravaged by fire, completely destroying its restaurant and some of the upper bedrooms. Forensics expert René Guichard pinpointed the cause of the blaze to a short circuit in the electrics that sparked and caught fire.
A year on and the entire 1425m2 site is under construction. Hotel group Accor are predicting re-opening the hotel this summer, 6 months later than originally anticipated.
