Now even less parking in Cham Sud!

featured in News & reviews Author Helen McGrory, Chamonix Reporter Updated

Local residents in Chamonix Sud are likely to be up in arms as the Mairie has placed more large blocks along the Alleé M Burnet (behind the Residence Chamois Blanc) to prevent cars from parking there. Whilst their reasoning is legitimate – it's so the bin men can pass through with their truck to take away the rubbish – you can't help but wonder if there isn't a better way to ensure access when you take into account the damage these rocks cause to vehicles as they are invariably not visible to the reversing driver.

Parking in the area is going to become an even greater problem, particularly during peak season, as the large underground car park is still permanently closed. Residents and visitors will now have to leave their cars further afield in the parking by the bus station or on Rue du Lyret (limited places in both) or pay for parking in Les Entrèves, the Aiguille du Midi or the Grépon car parks.
