Pedal power against the trucks!

featured in News & reviews Author Helen McGrory, Chamonix Reporter Updated

For 16 years, L'Association pour le Respect du Site du Mont Blanc (ARSMB) has been campaigning against the 2000-3000 heavy goods vehicles that travel daily up and down the Chamonix valley.

This annual protest event encourages everyone to take to their bikes and join them on a ride from Le Fayet at the bottom of the valley, up the main access road to Chamonix. This isn't a race (in fact the slower the better for the protestors!) so you don't need to be Lance Armstrong to take part, just support them in their quest to reduce traffic pollution in the valley.

The event takes place on Saturday 2nd June, meeting 14.00pm in the Le Fayet truck parking behind the Total garage. Due to arrive in Chamonix around 5pm, it is also possible to join the procession en route. So even if you can only do a couple of kms, the more the merrier!
