Record investment levels for French ski industry

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Investment in French skiing infrastructure rose to a new record this year: 176 M€, compared with 160 M € last year. The Southern Alps are investing in new lifts after a good 2004/5 season, while the Northern Alps are modernising their already well-equipped resorts. Few new lifts have been installed in the Savoy resorts this year. Instead investment has been directed at more skier ‘comfort': more cultured snow, (such as 50 new canons at Tignes/Les Brévière) and hands-free liftpasses (as in the Three Valleys).
